NICOLAS BALDEYROU
Nicolas Baldeyrou, a French clarinettist, has emerged as a prominent soloist of his generation. His versatility and mastery allow him to traverse various musical eras and styles with proficiency on both historical and modern instruments.
His skill has been acknowledged with prizes in prestigious competitions such as the Munich ARD Competition, Dos Hermanas Competition, and the ICA Young Artist Competition, leading to performances in renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
He frequently collaborates with top orchestras including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre National de France, working with distinguished conductors like Carlo-Maria Giulini and Claudio Abbado.
In chamber music, Baldeyrou has shared the stage with artists like Martha Argerich, Bertrand Chamayou, Svetlin Roussev and Renaud Capuçon. A pivotal moment in his career was his interaction with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Sir Roger Norrington, which spurred his interest in historical instruments and historically informed interpretations.
He has recently performed as a soloist on period instruments with the Musiciens du Louvre and the Concert de la Loge. His latest engagements include performances with the Mannheim National Theatre Orchestra and appearances at notable festivals like the Festival Ravel.
His discography, covering a wide spectrum of the clarinet repertoire, has received critical acclaim and numerous French awards. Baldeyrou, a CNSMD of Paris alumnus, has been a clarinet professor at the CNSM in Lyon since 2007 and a visiting professor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland since 2019.
Nicolas Baldeyrou collaborates with Buffet Crampon in research and development, serving as an ambassador and tester, and is also a Vandoren artist.
